Suspicious house fire in West Philadelphia

WEST PHILADELPHIA - January 3, 2013

19-year-old Komnee Jordan turned himself in after police say he shot a 16-year-old boy in the 5600 block of Carpenter Street.

It happened just after 2:00 a.m. on New Year's Day.

Police say Jordan told them he shot the teen because he felt threatened and feared for his life.

At 1:30 a.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to Jordan's house and found flames pouring from the windows.

They rescued a 70-year-old woman from the home.

She was treated for smoke inhalation.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire - and whether it has any connection to the homicide.
