Family and pets rescued from Berks County fire

Officials say a family and their pets were rescued from their burning home in Berks County Tuesday.

The fire broke out in the kitchen and spread throughout the house on Fritztown Road in Spring Township.

The house filled with smoke causing a mother and her son to flee to the roof.

Firefighters rescued them and brought them to safety.

Crews also removed eleven puppies from the home.

Investigators say no one was seriously hurt.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
