Officials say an underground gas pipe, located in a construction site adjacent to Allison Hall on the Newark Campus, was stuck and damaged by a backhoe operator digging a hole.
Allison Hall East / West, Plant Operations and 200 Academy Street were evacuated as a precaution.
Approximately 100 people were evacuated from the three buildings until Delmarva Power arrived to shut of the gas and EHS gave the all clear.
This process took approximately 30 minutes.
