Trial ordered in slaying of homeless vet in Doylestown

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - September 10, 2013

The Bucks County Courier Times says a Bucks County judge upheld the charges Monday against Dale Wakefield of Doylestown.

Prosecutors allege that Wakefield stabbed 71-year-old George Mohr at least 70 times with a pocket knife on July 3 outside the Doylestown train station.

They said he had been out celebrating his 21st birthday before the stabbing. Mohr died three days later. Wakefield was later arrested in a Baltimore hotel.

Wakefield's sister testified at Monday's preliminary hearing that her brother "just snapped" when Mohr said something to him after his request for money was rejected.
