It happened about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Days Inn on Concord Pike.
Troopers say a man gave a note to the clerk demanding cash. The man pulled out a baton and knocked items off the counter.
The clerk gave the robber cash. The suspect ran away.
There were no injuries.
