Man burned in Southwest Philadelphia house fire

A 31-year-old man was critically injured in a house fire in Southwest Philadelphia early Friday morning.

Officials say the fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. on the 5600 block of Beaumont Avenue.

Firefighters arrived and brought the blaze under control within minutes.

They were able to rescue a 31-year-old resident from the home.

Medics rushed him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with burns to 40 percent of his body.

The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
