Former New Jersey youth football director admits stealing funds

TRENTON, N.J. - January 27, 2014

David Marshall of Jackson pleaded guilty Monday to wire fraud. He faces up to 20 years in prison when he's sentenced June 25.

Marshall was eastern region director for Pop Warner Little Scholars, one of several volunteer posts he held in the organization from 2005-2011. He was responsible for financial matters and had access to bank and credit card accounts.

Prosecutors say Marshall stole hundreds of thousands of dollars, using it to pay off personal debts and make cash withdrawals. He also used a Pop Warner credit card to buy personal items and other things unrelated to the organization.

The eastern region covers Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington.
