The accident happened at 11:32 a.m. on DuPont Road (Del. 100) at Howard Street.
According to investigators, 38-year-old Jesse Streb of Wilmington was travelling south on Dupont Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his 2000 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle.
The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a pedestrian signal pole at the northwest corner of the intersection with Howard Street.
Streb was admitted to Christiana Hospital in critical condition with head and internal injuries.
