The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. Monday on 10th and Sansom streets in Center City.
The 39th police district officers were guarding prisoner Dwayne Walker - a suspect in a double stabbing - in a room on the 7th floor of the building.
The prisoner's handcuffs were removed for a medical procedure. That's when, officials say, he attempted to escape saying "I'm not going back to jail."
Walker allegedly tried to grab a gun from the holster of one officer before fleeing the room.
Police say the prisoner ran down the hall, naked with a catheter still in him, throwing furniture.
Police called for assistance. Officers from the 6th district responded.
Two police officers caught up with Walker and Tasered him four times before wrestling the man to the floor.
Sources tell Action News one of the officers was exposed to blood and the other officer had his face and hand cut.
Sources say Walker had a cast and struck the officer with the cast causing the injury.
Both officers - on a four-year veteran, the other a two-year veteran - were treated at Temple University Hospital and released.
Both also had to undergo testing since they could have been exposed to the prisoner's blood during the struggle.
Walker is charged with: Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, and related offenses for this incident.
