Biden will attend the 100th anniversary celebration of the Greater Pittston Area Friendly Sons of St. Patrick on March 17, according to the group's president, Ed Hart.

The vice president has traveled to northeastern Pennsylvania five times since taking office. His last visit was in August, when he joined President Barack Obama at an event on college affordability.

A number of political figures have spoken at the annual Area Friendly Sons of St. Patrick banquet over the decades, including President Harry Truman and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy.
