Delaware State Police say a woman was killed and her husband was injured when the minivan she was driving hit a truck tractor on Route 1 near Milton.

It happened about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. Troopers said in a news release that 49-year-old Joseph Waples of Ellendale was driving the truck when he entered a center crossover, stopped at a stop sign and continued onto Route 1.

Police say the truck entered the path of a minivan driven by 72-year-old Margaret Clift of Lewes. Authorities say Clift's vehicle struck the rear tires of the truck.

Troopers say Margaret Clift died at a hospital. Her husband, 73-year-old James Clift, a passenger in the minivan, was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The crash is under investigation.
