While Chris Bernholdt was checking out the deals on outfits with his daughters Sarah and Heidi, several other Dads were producing a podcast about the great prices on kids gear at the twice-yearly Oaks sale.
Nick Browne, who blogs as PapaBrownie, has shopped and consigned at the JBF Sale for a couple of years.
He says, "We've been coming to this sale for three years. This is a huge thing for us as far as saving money, since kids are super-expensive."
All the men are Daddy Bloggers -- and all say keeping the family budget on track is very important. Each has his favorite cost-cutting tip.
Bernholdt, of DadNCharge.com, says, "We just try to watch the ads in the grocery stores and try to save money and buy in bulk sometimes. That helps, especially if it's something that kids go through a lot. We really focus on that."
In addition to shopping re-sale, Ben Mullen, whose blog is Dad On The Mic, scours manufacturer sites like Similac and Playtex for coupons and special offers.
He says, "We've been using a lot coupons that you can actually print off. And it's $5 here off Similac, wherever you go."
Jeff Bogle's family loves to travel. The blogger behind OutWithTheKids.com checks online for free and discounted activities, drives instead of flying, and always checks back on his reservations.
He says, "When you book a hotel, assuming you're not pre-paying for it, say you book three months in advance, constantly keep checking those dates, because I always rebook and rebook and it gets cheaper and cheaper and cheaper."
