Artillery exercises, not earthquake, in Burlington County

WRIGHTSTOWN, N.J. (WPVI) -- Residents in Wrightstown, Burlington County may have heard a loud boom Thursday or felt the ground shake.

But it was not an earthquake. There were artillery exercises at the nearby military base.

Officials at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst said Marines from the 3rd Battalion and 6th Engineer Support Battalion were involved.

In addition to firing live guns, they were also doing controlled demolition exercises.

This will continue through Sunday.
