Police: Boy, 8, accidentally shoots self in foot

GERMANTOWN (WPVI) -- An 8-year-old boy is hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself in the foot.

It happened just after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Chelten Avenue and Ardleigh Street in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.

Police say the boy found a gun while walking in the park and picked it up.

The gun discharged, striking him in the left foot.

He was taken by private vehicle to Einstein Medical Center in stable condition.

Police have not been able to locate the weapon.
