According to authorities, Richard Perrotti was in his 21-foot boat fishing near the jetties when a large wake, caused by a passing boat, rocked Perrotti's boat so much that he was thrown into the water.
Perrotti then swam to a nearby jetty, where he was spotted by a Good Samaritan, who contacted the Coast Guard over VHF-FM radio.
Photos and video from the rescue show the Coast Guard throwing Perrotti a rope, which was used to tow him to safety.
