A car and SUV collided and the impact caused the car to strike a male pedestrian in the East Oak Lane section of Philadelphia early Saturday morning.

EAST OAK LANE (WPVI) -- A car and SUV collided and the impact caused the car to strike a male pedestrian in the East Oak Lane section of Philadelphia early Saturday morning.

The accident happened around 4:45 a.m. on the 6000 block of North Broad Street.

A male driver in a Toyota and a female drive in a Mercedes SUV collided. The impact of the crash cause the Toyota to careen out of control, striking a male pedestrian.

The pedestrian in his 60's was critically injured. The male driver of the Toyota suffered with chest pains.

They were both taken to Einstein Hospital for treatment.

The female driver stayed at the scene with the police.

The accident remains under investigation.
