Chester police officer accidentally shoots himself

CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- A Chester police officer was injured when he accidentally shot himself, authorities confirm to Action News.

It happened around 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Chester Police Station.

Officials say the officer suffered a graze wound to the leg and was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center for care.

His injuries are said not to be serious and he is expected to return to duty in a short time.

The incident remains under investigation.
