THE NUTCRACKER COMES TO TOWN
The Pennsylvania Ballet brings a holiday tradition back to the Academy of Music. Opening night of George Balanchine's 'The Nutcracker' is Friday, with performances through New Year's Eve. NUTCRACKER TICKETS
PARADE OF LIGHTS
A Parade of Lights will illuminate the Delaware River Saturday evening. Local working boats will be decked out in holiday lights as the parade will sail past the Independence Seaport Museum at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. BUY TICKETS ONLINE
RUNNING OF THE SANTAS
If you want to get a workout in before the holidays - think about taking part in the 20th Annual Running of the Santas this Saturday. Thousands of people will be decked out in their red and white suits to run from the Electric Factory in Northern Liberties down Spring Garden Street and back. LATKEPALOOZA
Hanukkah is still a few days away, but the Gershman Y on Broad Street is celebrating early. On Sunday you can take part in the 15th annual Latkepalooza, featuring a selection of latkes from Philadelphia's top restaurants. Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for children.

PHOENIXVILLE FIREBIRD FESTIVAL
The Firebird Festival on Saturday honors Phoenixville's namesake. Performers and food vendors will take over the Chester County borough during the day. Festival-goers will head to Friendship Field at nightfall, to watch the transformation of a community-made wooden phoenix into a grand bonfire. PERFORMANCES & EVENTS
ARMY-NAVY GAME

If you want a tasty treat from a bygone era, visit the Museum of the American Revolution Saturday. Anne ByrTimes-bestsellinges-bestselling cookbook author, will be discussing gingerbread's history in colonial America, and then demonstrating how to make a gingerbread recipe from George Washington's mother.
