The crash, involving 5 or 6 vehicles, happened in the construction zone approaching Girard Avenue.

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- A crash involving several vehicles slowed traffic on I-95 approaching Center City Philadelphia Wednesday morning.

It happened after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in a construction zone in the southbound lanes approaching the Girard Avenue exit.

The crash blocked the right lane of the highway for 15-20 minutes.

Images from a Sky 6 traffic camera showed 5 or 6 cars stopped in the right shoulder. Police were on the scene.

There was no immediate word on injuries or what led to the crash.

The accident led to a major backup on southbound I-95 from Girard Avenue to the Bridge Street exit during the morning rush hour.
