CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- It's been two month since a father was gunned down in Camden. Now his family is making a tearful plea for help.

"My brother, he was a good guy. He was a family man. He loved kids, all kids loved him."

Ceatta Thomas says her brother Demetrius Williams was helping her make dinner on Thursday December 18th.

"He said, 'Oh I'm just gonna go take a walk and get some air.' That was it," she said.

At about 6:45 p.m. police were called to a shooting near South 8th and Thurman Streets in Camden.

Detective Michael Sutley of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office explains, "We're not exactly sure where he was heading, but we do have an indication that he was cutting through the alleyway to go somewhere else."

The 28-year-old was taken to the hospital where he died on December 21st.

Demetrius' mother, Ceatta Williams, tells us, "It's gonna be a long hard process to heal for me and my family. I am going through it but they just don't know."

Detectives say they do have a bit of a lead.

Det. Sutley says, "There were cameras in the area that were able to recover some video footage."

But they say they need more help.

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

All you have to do is call 215-546-TIPS.

All calls will remain anonymous.

Williams leaves behind eight kids. One of his son's recently created a little memorial in his honor.

The child's mother, Shanell Wiatt, tells us, "He made a scrapbook at school and he sleeps with his scrapbook ... The milestones that they hit, they can't share that with their father. They didn't just, they didn't just take Demetrius they took part of us."
