CAMDEN, N.J. (WPVI) -- A father in Camden was gunned down in his own neighborhood and a reward is now being offered to help nab his killer.
"He was a great son, great father, great brother - everybody looked up to him. Nobody ever spoke a bad word about him," said Kyle Wilson, victim's brother-in-law.
Wilson still struggles with his emotions when talking about his brother-in-law Thaddeus Pitts.
On Wednesday April 8th, Pitts was around the corner from his home along the 1100 block of Empire Avenue in Camden.
"About 6:19 p.m., Camden metro officers were in a park side neighborhood when they heard three gunshots and they responded to the area of Park and Empire," said Det. Sherman Lee Hopkins, Jr.
"We were hoping that it wasn't him because we knew he was in the vicinity and our prayers were not answered that day," said Wilson.
Police found Pitts lying on the sidewalk shot multiple times.
Officer did see a vehicle leaving the area just after the shooting.
"They saw a gray Dodge Challenger fleeing the scene. They engaged in a short pursuit but lost the vehicle," said Det. Hopkins.
Pitts leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter.
"He wasn't robbed or anything like that so the motive was definitely a personal motive," said Wilson.
The Citizens Crime Commission is administering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
All you need to do is call 215-546-TIPS (8477). All calls will remain anonymous.
"This person is still on the loose so we ask that you protect your own child, protect your neighborhood by helping get this person out of the neighborhood," said Wilson.
