REHOBOTH, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police have arrested a 21-year-old Rehoboth man in connection with the death of one of his infant twin sons.
Police say Sidney G. Davis III called 911 around 11:30 a.m. Saturday to report his 3-month-old son was not breathing and unresponsive.
Paramedics responded to the room Davis was in at the Sea Esta Motel IV on Coastal Highway in Rehoboth.
The boy, identified as Zhaden Davis, was transported to Beebe Medical Center where they were able to establish a heartbeat. Doctors there determined that Zhaden had suffered a traumatic brain bleed, which likely caused him to become unconscious.
Zhaden was then flown to A.I. DuPont Hospital, but died on Sunday.
An autopsy ruled the cause and manner of death to be homicide due to head trauma.
Family members were with Sidney Davis when he surrendered to state police on Tuesday.
Homicide detectives interviewed Davis, at which time they learned that the twins were in the care of their father on Friday night. Zhaden was crying at some point in the night, and police say Sidney began shaking the child in an attempt to quiet him.
This allegedly happened again on Saturday morning.
Soon after the second incident was when Davis contacted 911, police said.
Sidney was arraigned and charged with murder by neglect or abuse and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $100,000 cash bond.
Zhaden's twin brother was uninjured and is in the care of his mother.
