RENTON, WA -- Washington mom Sarah Fish is issuing a warning after her son almost died by taking on the popular 'duct tape challenge.'
Sarah Fish told station KIRO, "I want people to stop and think that there are so many risks to any of these challenges. They're dangerous."
Her son, Skylar Fish, recently had 48 staples removed from his head after he fell while trying out the 'duct tape challenge' with his friends. The goal of the challenge - seen in numerous YouTube videos -- is to break free from duct tape wrapped around your body.
While Skylar's friends were wrapping his body, Skylar fell.
Sarah Fish said, "When he fell, he hit the corner of the window frame. It crushed his whole eye socket. When his eye socket was crushed, it pinched off nerves in his eye."
Fish doesn't know if he'll ever get his vision back in that eye. His head also slammed into the concrete, causing a brain aneurysm.
Skylar said, "I'm just actually really lucky to be even alive. ... Teach other kids not to do it. When I think about it, like I become sad. And then like really happy. Because like I'm happy because like I survived it. ... I almost died."
