PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Education has informed the School District of Philadelphia that none of its schools were designated Persistently Dangerous Schools for the 2014-2015 school year.
This is the first time the School District has no schools designated persistently dangerous by PDE.
The Persistently Dangerous School designation was created by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
For the fourth consecutive year, the District says it achieved a reduction in the total number of reported violent incidents.
The total number of violent incidents District-wide declined 9.9 percent, from 2,758 to 2,485 during the 2013-14 school year.
The rate of violent incidents per 100 students remained unchanged from 1.84 to 1.83 when compared to the prior school year. Student enrollment dropped from 149,535 to 135,149 in the 2013-14 school year.
The schools removed from the Persistently Dangerous Schools list are Lincoln High School and Sayre Middle School.
