Stomp the Runway event aims to end sexual abuse

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Since he was a young boy, he had a dream to work in fashion and now he's doing just that. But his work also has a mission and it's tied to his own personal story of devastation and perseverance.

Rashad Corey is a stylist, designer, and also a survivor of sexual abuse.

When he was only 12-years-old he was assaulted by a church pastor. Corey eventually came forward with his story and that pastor is now in prison.

And now Corey is back to his dreams and pulling together a fashion show called Stomp the Runway and the mission is to stomp out sexual abuse.

"We will have a strong blend of awareness and fashion on the runway. You'll see that in the fashion and you'll see we're also inspiring people. I've decided to open up and tell my story and how I survived and hopefully encourage other people they too can survive," said Corey.

The fashion show is Saturday night with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Philadelphia non-profit Women Organized Against Rape.

Various celebrities will stomp the runway including boxer Bernard Hopkins.
