Man struck in head with garden hoe during argument in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police have released surveillance video of a suspect who critically injured a man with a gardening tool during an argument outside a bar in North Philadelphia.

Investigators say the 53-year-old male victim was arguing with the suspect inside the Southern Tavern Inn on the 3200 block of Germantown Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

The argument continued outside of the bar when the man was struck in the head with a garden hoe.

The suspect then fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 30-years-old, 185 lbs. with a medium complexion and full beard. He was wearing dark-colored jeans and a denim jacket with white sleeves.
