Germantown apartment fire under investigation

GERMANTOWN (WPVI) -- An apartment fire in Philadelphia's Germantown section is under investigation after newspapers were found on fire in a stairwell.

The fire started around 4:30 a.m. Thursday on the 200 block of Church lane.

Fire crews arrived to smoke showing throughout the building.

The building was immediately evacuated to secure the safety of the residents.

The fire marshal arrived on the scene to investigate the newspapers that were found.

So far, no reports of injuries. Some residents were able to return after a short period.
