After-Christmas rush for returns and sales
After-Christmas rush for returns and sales. Katie Katro reports during Action News at 4 p.m. on December 26, 2018.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (WPVI) -- Many people are spending the day Wednesday returning gifts. The day after Christmas is another big day for retailers as shoppers return presents, and maybe also cash in their gift cards, and many stores opened early for the rush.

To many shoppers it was a surprise the parking lot wasn't as packed as when they were in the store buying the presents before the holiday.

"I thought it would be much busier than it looks," Ashanta Austin of West Oak Lane said.

Parents were looking to get their money back for holiday presents that just didn't fit right - and maybe do a little after-Christmas shopping

"Sales all the way! Best time to get the sales," Beth Warren of Cherry Hill said.

At most stores you shop at, you'll get a receipt which explains the return policy. Bring your ID as some businesses require it with a return.

The store team leader at the Target in Cherry Hill says he does expect the lines to get longer throughout the next couple of days as people start heading back into work and returning on their lunch breaks.
