CALN TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- This weekend a group of everyday heroes came together to lift a car off a little girl, saving her life.

Now police are searching for the Good Samaritans so that they can show their appreciation.

This whole thing unfolded Sunday evening when a vehicle traveling west on the Route 30 bypass in Caln Township went out of control and flipped over.

Inside the vehicle were a man and his four children, ages 7 through 10.

When the vehicle finally came to rest it was upside down, and the driver's 7-year-old daughter had been ejected.

State Police Sgt. Leo Hegarty explains, "As a result of the girl being ejected from the vehicle, she was pinned under the hood and the front windshield of the vehicle."

But just then something extraordinary happened. A bunch of vehicles started pulling over, and the people inside those vehicles quickly rushed to the overturned car.

Sgt. Hegarty says, "They actually were able to lift this car up, push the car up onto its side and pull her out from underneath the car. Unfortunately most of them left before any of us got on scene and were able to identify them."

Paramedics showed up a short time later and took the injured girl to the hospital.

Now investigators want to speak with the people involved, not just to get their accounts of what happened, but also to say 'thank you.'

"It's not every day where you have citizens like that that are willing to stop and render that type of assistance, especially in today's day and age. And for six, seven, upwards of ten people to stop and do that, we just want to recognize them," says Sgt. Hegarty.

There is still no word on how the man lost control of his vehicle. But on the way he clipped another car. No one in that car was injured.

The father and three of his children walked away with only minor injuries. However, the girl who was ejected remains hospitalized in critical condition.

If you were one of the people who tried to help the little girl on Sunday, or if you know who did, please contact Pennsylvania State Police at 610-486-6280.
