The secret to your body's cancer-fighting power lies in the bacteria in your gut.

A team of 40 scientists at 3 hospitals has identified 11 bacterial strains which activated the immune system and slowed the growth of melanoma in mice.

They've found that gut bacteria even affect the success of treatments based on immunotherapy.

That may explain why only half of patients respond to immunotherapy.
