CHICAGO -- The body of renowned Chicago chef Homaro Cantu was found Tuesday afternoon in a building on West Montrose where he had planned to open a brewery.
Cantu garnered international attention for his West Loop restaurant, Moto.
The Chicago Tribune reports Cantu was just sued by an investor who claimed Cantu used Moto's bank account for personal use.
Police said Cantu appeared to die from hanging. His death is being investigated as a suicide.
Another famous Chicago chef, Graham Elliott, tweeted: "Please everyone, send your thoughts/prayers to the family and loved ones of Chef Homaro Cantu. A great friend, a horrible loss; speechless."
