Police are searching for two suspects who they say shot a dog during a home invasion in West Philadelphia.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for two suspects who they say shot a dog during a home invasion in West Philadelphia.

It happened before 10 a.m. Monday at a home on South Salford Street near Ludlow Street.

Officers arrived to find a dog which had sustained at least one gunshot wound during a home invasion.

The animal was taken to Penn Vet's Ryan Hospital for treatment.

It was not immediately clear if there were other injuries, or if anything from the home was taken during the incident.

Action News is told the suspects fled the scene on foot, and that at least one of the suspects is known to the person living at the home.
