It?s the season for giving, and a store manager in Buffalo, New York stepped up to help a homeless woman in need.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WPVI) -- It's the season for giving, and a store manager in Buffalo, New York stepped up to help a homeless woman in need.

Michele Earl says she was hungry and cold when she walked into a coat store on Friday.

Desperate to keep warm, she offered to work in exchange for a coat.

Store manager Carl Kunz said he didn't have any jobs, but he gave her a new coat without hesitation.

Kunz says, "I can't imagine what it would be like when it's 25 degrees out and you have to walk around without a coat. We all pitched in, all the employees pitched and we thought it was the right thing to do for her."

Michele Earl was moved, saying, "I was in tears when I left there. I was literally crying walking down the street because I was that happy, he took a big weight off my shoulders."

Kunz says domestic violence turned her life upside down.

She used to be a cook, and wants to get back into the profession.

When she gets a job, she'll pay the kindness forward.
