Philadelphia police officers help save nine people after flames forced them from their home in the Kensington.

KENSINGTON (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police officers help save nine people after flames forced them from their home in the Kensington.



The blaze broke out around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday on the 2300 block of East Norris Street.



Police on routine patrol spotted heavy fire from the rear of the house.



Officers then began banging on doors to wake up the residents.



Fire crews arrived and began working on the rear of the house.



Two additional homes have smoke damage.



The Red Cross arrived and is assisting the nine people.



There were no reports of any injuries.
