Man shot near Knights Inn motel in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- A man is hospitalized after a shooting near a motel in New Castle, Delaware.

At approximately 11:02 a.m. Thursday, police responded to the unit block of Jensen Drive for the report of a possible shooting investigation, however, no shooting victim was located.

At approximately 11:32 a.m. police learned a 22-year-old male had responded to the Knights Inn located on Route 9 in New Castle and was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso and jaw areas.

New Castle County Paramedics treated the victim on scene and transported him to the Christiana Emergency Room in stable condition.

Police say the victim was shot in the unit block of Jensen Drive and fled the area in a personal vehicle which was involved in a motor vehicle accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
