Democrat Susan Wild concedes in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District race

Concgresswoman Susan Wild (D) conceded Wednesday morning in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District race.

"There is no sugarcoating it: this is a bitterly disappointing outcome," she said in a statement. "I lost this election, and my opponent won. I congratulate my opponent on winning this seat, and I am going to do everything to ensure a smooth transition, because the people of this district deserve nothing less."

Wild faced state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie.

"This is how American democracy works. It's how we move forward," she added.

Wild, a former city government lawyer, won by fewer than two points in 2022 and was a perennial target for Republicans.

Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district covers all of Lehigh and Northampton counties and parts of Monroe County. It's a very diverse district centered around Allentown.

Ballot counting continues in Philadlephia Wednesday morning

The process of counting ballots continues Wednesday morning. In the City of Philadelphia, 202,000 mail-in ballots were collected, with the results of 171,000 ballots now posted as of 6:00 a.m.

At city polling places, 504,000 ballots were cast, with 98% of divisions reporting at this hour. It shows that just shy of 61% of register Philadelphians participated in the election this year.

President-Elect Trump is winning nearly 51% of the vote in Pennsylvania, compared to VP Kamala Harris' 48% statewide.

The same goes for the Senate Race, with Democrat incumbent Bob Casey winning 78% of the vote in Philadelphia.

Throughout the keystone state, Republican Dave McCormick leads Casey by about 71,000 votes, but the race has not yet been officially called.

Based on the city commissioners live webpage that Action News has been closely following, there are about 31,000 mail-in ballots yet to be posted.
