PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Phillies have selected Bryson Stott with the 14th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft.
Stott is a shortstop from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Stott batted .356 with 20 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 36 RBI, 65 runs, 55 walks, 16 stolen bases, a .486 on-base percentage and a .599 slugging percentage in 58 games during his junior season.
"We selected a dynamic middle infielder who can play exceptional defense, hit for average and hit for power," said Johnny Almaraz, Director of Amateur Scouting. "He is a leader, has tremendous intangibles and we expect great things from him."
The Phillies' next selection in the draft will be in the third round with the 91st overall pick Wednesday.
