Mom crashes into South Jersey motel with young daughter in car, police say

EGG HARBOR TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A South Jersey mother is behind bars after crashing her vehicle into a motel with her child in the car.

Police say 25-year-old Bernadette McDaniels lost control of her 2009 Nissan Maxima while driving on Tilton Road Wednesday.

She crashed into the Rex Motel in Egg Harbor Township.

McDaniel's four-year-old daughter was in the back seat at the time.

Police say they recovered drug-related items from the car.

They believe McDaniels was impaired when she crashed.

She was taken into custody and charged with multiple motor vehicle violations, child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail was set at $5,000.
