SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School in South Philadelphia will dismiss at 12 p.m. on Friday after a call to police prompted a shelter in place procedure at the school.

Archdiocesan officials say it was around 9:20 a.m., during 1st period, when police received a call about a report of a gun in the school.

Officers responded to the school and alerted school officials to keep students in their classrooms while they conducted a sweep of the school.

When the preliminary sweep was completed police had found no gun nor any other threat or danger in the school.

However, officials said the school would be dismissed at Noon so police could conduct a more thorough sweep.

The Archdiocese says that this incident is in no way related to the arrest of a student earlier this week after that teen allegedly made threats to the lives of other students.

Some parents did show up at the school this morning and took their children home for the day.

Neumann Goretti officials also said that, on Monday, new safety procedures will be put into place and "those policies will be communicated to the entire school community."
