NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- Firefighters in New Castle County rescued a woman from a burning apartment building early Sunday morning.
Crews were called around 4:30 a.m. to the Albon Park development where they found fire on all three floors of a apartment building.
Firefighters made several attempts to rescue a deaf woman who was inside of her apartment on the third floor as flames consumed the first and second floors.
After approximately 20 minutes, crews brought the woman down to waiting medics who rushed her to Christiana Hospital. She is listed in critical condition.
New Castle County Police went door to door waking up nearby residents to evacuate their apartments.
Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 45 minutes.
The incident is being investigated by the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office
