TRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General has concluded a fatal police shooting two years ago in Trenton was justified.
The incident occurred in 2013 on Hobart Avenue when two detectives, Edgar Rios and James Letts, were escorting a woman back to her home after a domestic violence incident, police said.
Prosecutors said the woman's ex-boyfriend, Eric McNeil, walked out of the home and began shooting, critically wounding Rios and leaving Letts with a shoulder injury.
The detectives returned fatal shots killing McNeil, police said.
Prosecutors concluded Wednesday the detectives used a reasonable amount of force to protect their lives.
