SOMERTON (WPVI) -- A man who was barricaded inside a home in the Somerton section of Philadelphia has been taken into custody.

The incident unfolded in the 10000 block of Jeanes Street on Thursday afternoon.

Police originally went to the home to deliver mental health papers, and to take the man into custody.

When officers found him, he was on the front lawn of the home with a sword - but he then ran into the house.

Once there, police say, he implied he had more weapons.

As police continued to stage outside, officers could be heard on a megaphone asking the man to surrender peacefully.

Finally, a SWAT robot was sent into the house and he was found inside a room unarmed.

He was taken into custody shortly after 5 p.m.

No charges will be filed.

An odor of natural gas had been reported at the scene, but no problems have been found.
