Philadelphia's ban on E-cigarettes in public places starts at midnight.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's ban on E-cigarettes in public places starts tonight at midnight.

The legislation prohibits the sale of e-cigarettes to minors and the use of e-cigarettes in workplaces, bars and restaurants.

The law also applies to vape pens, e-hookahs and e-cigars.

Businesses caught selling e-cigarettes or refilling cartridges to minors will be hit with a $250 ticket.

Philadelphia City Council voted 15-0 back in May to categorize e-cigarettes the same way that regular tobacco cigarettes are treated.

Similar restrictions are already in effect in cities including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
