Parent of Yeadon murder victim call for justice as they grieve
YEADON, Pa. (WPVI) -- The parents of a woman who was murdered in Yeadon, Pa. last week are calling for justice as they continue to grieve their daughter's death.
Natasha Gibson, 32, was found dead on the sidewalk near a friend's home on Bailey Road.
Gibson, the mother of an 11-year-old, was found with her throat slashed and stab wounds, police say.
Her killer remains at large.
"Someone murdered my daughter. I feel like something was taken from me, the Lord wasn't ready for her yet. Someone took something from me, and I'm very hurt about that," said her mother, Zelda.
Police released surveillance video showing a person of interest in a grocery store the night of the killing.
According to investigators, the killer received several lacerations during the struggle with Gibson, and his blood trail led to Southwest Philadelphia, where a knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was found.
Sources say Gibson's purse was recovered on a rooftop in that vicinity.
"Something should be done on black-on-black crime, senseless crime, period. I'm angry, I haven't even began to taper down the sad," said her father, Douglas Butler.
"We need justice. I can't sit here to ask someone to turn themselves in, because I know that's not going to happen," Zelda Gibson said.
Yeadon police say there is nothing new to report as they wait for results of blood and fingerprint tests.
