PORT RICHMOND (WPVI) -- Tires were slashed on at several vehicles in Port Richmond, including a City of Philadelphia van.

Residents on the 3200 block of Frankford Avenue near Allegheny Avenue awoke Saturday to find flattened tires and repair bills into the hundreds.

"People should not be doing that, no matter if they're mad at them or not mad at them, so I think it's just plain wrong - definitely reckless," said Carlos Texeira.

It appears that eight vehicles, including a City of Philadelphia van, were targeted.

For some, multiple tires were slashed.

Texeira says he remembers hearing the rush of air from the punctures overnight.

"I live on the third floor and that alarm went off on the Honda. I look out the window and I didn't see nobody out here and like an hour later you hear more, the same noise. I don't know who got the capacity to do this," he said.

Police searched for surveillance video in the area.

Just a mile away and a few days ago, cameras in Juniata Park captured two young women and a man slashing tires on the 1600 block of East Worrell Street and the 4000 block of Potter Street.

Investigators are still trying to track down the suspects from those Tuesday night, Wednesday morning crimes.

Police haven't said if they think this case is connected to the Port Richmond one but either way residents are on the lookout.

"It's very expensive for tires. All them tires right there - they're 100 bucks a piece. It's a lot of money. I will just stay up and come out here more often, that's the only thing you can do," said Joe McIver.

Many of the tire slashing victims here on Frankford Avenue were able to get their cars towed away or have their tires fixed on the scene.

Philadelphia Police East Detectives are looking for tips in this recent incident and the one in Juniata Park.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS (8477), text a tip to PPD TIP (773847) or through www.PhillyPolice.com.
