ARDMORE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Lower Merion Township Police arrested a burglary suspect inside the home he allegedly broke into.
19-year-old Ryan Bangs has been charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft, theft from motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, public drunkenness, and underage drinking.
Police were called to the 100 block of Simpson Road in Ardmore around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday to the report of an intoxicated male inside a home.
Responding officers met the homeowners who reported that the male was still inside their home.
Officers entered the home and found the man, later identified as Bangs, inside.
He was placed under arrest.
The homeowners tell police that they were awakened by the sound of footsteps on the stairs and then confronted Bangs inside their home. They did not recognize him and immediately called police.
Police say Bangs had entered the house through an unlocked door and then stole numerous items from inside the home including cash, a cell phone, and liquor.
The resident's vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, had also been ransacked.
It was also determined, police say, that Bangs had entered another vehicle in the 100 block of Simpson Road and stole items from that vehicle.
