Philadelphia police are searching for a thief who drove off with an ATM machine from a gas station in the city's Roxborough section.

ROXBOROUGH (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are looking for a thief who went to great lengths to get his cash in the city's Roxborough section.

It happened early Thursday morning at the Eagle Gas Station located on the 5100 block of Umbria Street.

Surveillance video shows the suspect pulling up to the gas station around 3:30 a m. in a dark colored SUV.

He can be seen exiting the vehicle and tying a rope around the ATM and the other end to the SUV's bumper.

The suspect then quickly drives forward, pulling the machine from its anchor in the ground before loading it into the rear of the SUV and driving off.

Police describe the suspect as a male of unknown race. He was wearing dark colored clothing, a knit hat and white sneakers.

The vehicle is described as a gray/blue or possibly black 1999 to 2000 Mercury Mountaineer.
