Philadelphia police are investigating a double shooting outside a North Philadelphia elementary school that left one person dead.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a double shooting outside a North Philadelphia elementary school that left one person dead.

It was 4:56 p.m. when officers responded to the 1200 block of West Rush Street for the report of a person with a gun.

When officers arrived on the scene they found two men, both 25 years old, on the roadway in front of the George Clymer School, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both men were taken to Temple University Hospital by police. That's where one of the victims, identified as Darryl Brown of S. Paxon Street, succumbed to his injuries.

The other victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.

A handgun was recovered from the scene.

There is also no word on arrests at this time.
