CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- It was Hollywood meets Philadelphia for an Oscars watch party - all for a good cause.
"I just love the Oscars. I've been watching them since I was a young kid with my mother and it's just wonderful to come out and this has just been fabulous," said Kelley Scroggins.
"Well I will be honest, I wish I saw a few more of the movies so I knew what was going on but we'll support American Sniper," said Louis Zuegner.
There were plenty of people rooting for hometown favorite Bradley Cooper.
However inside the Loews Hotel, the star of the show was not a person but an organization - Volunteers of America Delaware Valley.
Money raised Sunday night through their silent auctions will go towards programs which help the less fortunate.
"We just really give hope to people who need it most. We serve over 13,000 people each year in the Delaware Valley. We operate homeless shelters for families and veterans and that's really what all the proceeds from tonight here is going towards," said Rebecca Fuller, Volunteers of America Delaware Valley.
There was lots of glitz and glam - for a truly good cause.
We even spotted our own Sharrie Williams fresh off the red carpet.
"This event is fabulous, it really honors those who are working in the community and it really is about volunteers," said Williams.
This is the 16th year that Volunteers of America has paired up their gala with the Oscars.
Those who attended say the Academy Awards are already special but that feeling after giving back is just simply rewarding.
"I think we just wanted to be a part of the night and give back to the community and it's such a good cause," said Maggie Zuegner.
This is the largest fundraiser of the year for Volunteers of America.
