ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Our area continues to dig out from this weekend's blizzard. One of the hardest hit areas is the Lehigh Valley where we saw record snow fall.

74-year-old Eugene Stefko, with a little help from his Allentown neighbors, finally removed the mounds of snow from the blizzard of 2016 that encased his car. But even though his vehicle is now snow free, his roadway still looks like an avalanche hit.

Stefko says, "We are not going to get out. We're not going anywhere."

He tells us there's only one way to describe his situation: "We got a problem. I was supposed to go to the doctor on Wednesday but I canceled it. I have one kidney and I have to get it checked once in a while."

Meanwhile, road crews have shifted their efforts from a plowing operation to a hauling operation.

On Tuesday trucks could be seen filled with snow before being transported and dumped in several locations on the outskirts of town.

And while getting around by vehicle is still no picnic, traveling by foot can prove daunting as well. Neighbors say some people simply can't shovel their sidewalks because there's nowhere to put the snow.

Rose Gellis says it almost feels like she's under house arrest.

She says, "We've gone just about nowhere. It's been shoveling and helping everyone else shovel. You come out a little - you can only shovel so much, because there's so much snow. You know what I mean?"

So as the road crews continue to work around the clock, and city officials continue to ask the people of Allentown to remain patient.

Craig Messinger of Allentown Public Works says, "Whatever is necessary, we will do it to take care of it with our pieces of equipment. It's gonna take some time getting to everything in the city of Allentown. We're not talking hours, we're talking days."

Meanwhile, LANTA bus service has been restored to what is called "snow detour routes".

Allentown schools will be closed again Wednesday for the third straight day.
